Your commission rules and attribution methods are integral to your program's success. This page explains how ShareASale features are replicated on Awin and highlights the flexible customization options available.
Will my commission rates carry over to Awin?
Yes. Commission rates and any custom rates will be replicated and carried over to your Awin program.
Important: Review your commission rates and attribution settings and update any Commission Group Names to ensure they are clear and easily understood by your partners.
I currently use Conversion Lines on ShareASale, will these carry over to Awin?
Several adjustments have been made to the attribution and commissioning capabilities of the Awin platform guided by the usage of conversion lines on ShareASale. While we have prioritized creating attribution capabilities for the most used conversion line scenarios there are a few that may not be supported or can be achieved using other Awin features. If you have a specific scenario that you would like to check, please contact our team. More information, here.
What is a Soft-Click publisher, and how does it work on Awin?
Soft-Click publishers operate differently from standard affiliates by influencing the customer journey earlier in the conversion path. These publishers typically include browser extensions, cashback and loyalty partners, or content discovery tools that engage users before they actively seek to purchase.
Unlike traditional post-click publishers, Soft-Click cookies do not overwrite existing post-click cookies from other publishers. Instead, they are de-duplicated against the rest of your publisher channel, ensuring fair attribution while still recognizing their role in driving user engagement.
This feature is new for ShareASale advertisers and provides a more holistic view of how different publisher types contribute to conversions without disrupting existing tracking setups.
For more details, visit our Soft-Click Publisher Guide or reach out to your account manager to see how this can support your program strategy.
What will be carried over in terms of my commissions and rules?
As part of your upgrade to Awin, you're gaining access to a more powerful platform with enhanced flexibility and control over your affiliate program's commission structure. Awin's Commission Manager offers dynamic rule-building functionality that supports both foundational and advanced use cases, designed to grow with your needs.
Let's explore how your existing ShareASale commission logic translates to Awin, and how to configure these rules within the Awin interface. All commission logic should be input under the Commission Groups tab first in the Commission Manager.

Translating commission logic to Awin
Awin enables you to define detailed commission strategies that support program growth across a wider publisher base. Many of your existing rules will carry over with minimal changes, and where adjustments are needed, we provide flexible tools or workarounds to help achieve your intended outcomes.
| Scenario | How it's handled on Awin | Learn more |
| Default sale/lead rates | Awin mirrors these through a Default Commission Group using your existing rate structure. | Commission Groups |
| Custom affiliate groups | Recreated by assigning Publisher Tags, then linking those tags to specific Commission Groups. | Publisher Tags |
| Unique rates for individual affiliates | Managed through Publisher Commission Rates (PCRs) for precise, partner-specific setup. | Publisher Commission Rates |
| Product-based commission rates | Supported with SKU conditions in Commission Groups (max. 250 SKUs per group). | |
| Voucher code-based commissions | Fully supported using voucher code conditions within Commission Groups. | |
| Sale vs. lead commission logic | Easily replicated by creating separate Sale and Lead Commission Groups. | Sale vs. Lead |
| New vs. returning customers | Configurable using Awin's Customer Acquisition condition. | |
| Order/date-based logic | Direct matching isn't available, but custom parameters and publisher tags offer flexible alternatives. | |
| Basket value triggers | Supported with Basket Value Rules, using the "Greater Than or Equal To" operation. | Basket Value Rules |
| Merchant-defined logic (i.e. xType) | Tracked via Custom Parameters in Awin. If you previously used xType in ShareSale, this data will now appear in p6 for both reporting and rule conditions. | |
| Store ID from StoresConnect | If using storeID on ShareASale, this will be tracked as Custom Parameter (p4) in Awin. This can be used to segment or target rules by location/store when needed. | |
| Affiliate-specific logic using tags | Recreated via Publisher Tag conditions in Commission Groups. | |
| Signup source/date-based logic | Not directly supported, but similar segmentation can be achieved using PCRs or Publisher Tags. | |
| Commission rates larger than 100% | This isn't directly supported, but you can achieve a similar result by using Basket Value Rules. | Basket Value Rules |
The shift to Awin brings greater control, visibility, and flexibility over how you reward your partners - backed by detailed performance tracking and simplified rule management.
