Replacing Conversion Lines with Awin logic

One of the major benefits of upgrading to Awin is the expanded attribution functionality available through the Attribution Manager. While ShareASale's Conversion Lines offered foundational attribution logic, Awin's custom Attribution Rules provides a more sophisticated, transparent way to control how credit is assigned across your affiliate channel.

These rules are configured within the Attribution Rules tab in the Awin platform and allow for greater flexibility, whether you're looking to prioritize partners, define conversion windows, or apply custom tracking logic based on user behavior or transaction data.

If you've used ShareASale's xType or storeID parameters as part of your Conversion Line conditions, it's important to note that this data is preserved in Awin:

  • xType = Now tracked in Custom Parameter p6 in Awin
  • storeID (used with ShareASale's StoresConnect) = Now tracked in Custom Parameter p4 in Awin

You can use these custom parameters for both reporting and targeted attribution rule conditions within Awin.

Translating attribution logic to Awin

Here's how common ShareASale attribution strategies translate into the Awin platform:

ScenarioHow it's handled on AwinLearn more
Prioritized click logic (time-based, publisher group, etc.)Replicated through Custom Attribution Rules based on cookie windows, publisher tags, and custom parameters.
Event-driven logic (i.e. affiliate click as a trigger)Rebuilt using conversion events combined with custom cookie settings.
Sale or transaction date targetingImplemented using the Sale Date condition in Attribution Rules.
Influencer or secondary conversion linesNot directly supported. However, Commission by Assist can be used to credit contributors beyond the last click.Commission by Assist
Merchant-defined logic (i.e. xType used in ShareASale)Use Custom Parameter p6 in Attribution Rules to replicate this condition.
Store-level attribution (if using StoresConnect)Use Custom Parameter p4 for store-level logic in reporting or attribution conditions.

Awin's attribution framework is designed to support data-driven decision making with clear and flexible logic. While not every ShareASale setup has a one-to-one equivalent, most use cases can be matched or improved upon with Awin's tooling.
