Details

Adding a commission group in Awin is a simple yet powerful way to customise how you reward publishers for promoting specific products. By creating tailored commission structures, you can strategically boost visibility for certain categories and drive more targeted traffic.

Commission groups are managed within the platform’s Commission Manager and can be set up quickly with just a few key details. This flexibility not only enhances your programme’s performance but also ensures publishers are fairly incentivised based on what they help sell.

Awin Access commission groups

Awin Access customers are limited to 3 commission groups.

Awin Accelerate and Advanced commission groups

Awin Accelerate and Advanced customers can access unlimited commission groups.

How commission groups help advertisers to promote their products

The Commission group functionality within the platform enables advertisers to set up percentage-based or flat rates commissions for specific product ranges in relation to the products sold on their websites. Commission groups are used to further entice publishers to promote certain products from the advertiser’s websites.

For example: A percentage-based commission group could be set up to pay publishers 10% of the sale amount for every DVD that is purchased from their site.

Is there a minimum requirement for commission groups

It is required that one commission group is set up as a minimum for each advertiser account, as it is important that publishers receive commission on all products.

How to create commission groups

1. In order to add commission groups, Navigate to Commission Commission Manager and click on the Commission Groups tab.

2. To add a new commission group, select Edit Commission Groups and then Add Commission Group

3. Complete the below as follows:

    • Commission Group Name: use a unique name to describe a specific group you are commissioning on, so that it’s easy for you and your publishers to understand.
    • Commission Group Code: each commission group needs a unique Commission Group Code to help track each sale and the associated commission via the "aw_parts" parameter in the tracking tag.
    • Description: use this field for any additional details about the commission group, for your reference.
    • Please note: Special characters (e.g. ł, ś, ç, ñ) are not currently supported in Commission Group names / Descriptions etc. We recommend using standard Latin characters (A–Z) only.
    • Transaction Type: select Sale if you want to reward your publishers based on acquisition or purchase. Select Lead to reward partners for user sign up / registration.
IMPORTANT: you will also need to ensure your Awin tracking code is amended to send through the commission group codes.
    • Commission Type: a Fixed amount of commission can be paid for a lead or sale transaction types, while Percentage can be paid only for Sale.
    • Publisher Commission: enter the commission value to be awarded for each sale associated to this commission group.

4. Once happy with your settings, press Save

5. To test that the commission group is working and tracking as it should, it's advised to run a test transaction via Support > Integration > Tracking Diagnosis
